If you are planning a trip to Bali, chances are you’ve heard of Sanur. Known as the "classic" side of Bali, Sanur offers a much calmer, laid-back atmosphere compared to the frantic energy of Seminyak or Canggu.

At the heart of this coastal charm lies Sindhu Beach (locally known as Pantai Sindhu), a place where golden sunrises, local tradition, and marine conservation meet.

Whether you are a solo traveler looking for a peaceful morning walk or a family wanting to see baby turtles, Sindhu Beach is a destination that shouldn’t be missed.

Location of Sindhu Beach

Sindhu Beach is situated in the southeastern coastal town of Sanur, within the Denpasar Selatan district.

It is perfectly positioned between Segara Ayu Beach and Sanur Beach, making it a central hub for those staying in the Sanur area.

  • Exact Address: Jl. Pantai Sindhu, Sanur, Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80228.

This Sanur’s beach is famous for its wide stretch of sand and the iconic paved path that allows you to walk or cycle for kilometers along the coast.

It’s the kind of place where you can still feel the "old Bali" vibe, with traditional warungs (small local eateries) and colorful jukung (traditional wooden boats) lining the shore.

Route to Sindhu Beach

Because Sindhu Beach is located in a well-established tourist zone, it is very accessible. However, as any regular visitor will tell you, Bali’s traffic can be unpredictable.

To make the most of your day, it’s best to plan your journey according to these estimated travel times:

Departure Area

Approx. Distance

Estimated Travel Time (Normal Traffic)

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)

~12 km

20–30 minutes

Kuta

~10 km

25–40 minutes

Seminyak

~11-12 km

30–45 minutes

Canggu

~20 km

60–90+ minutes

Nusa Dua

~15 km

20–35 minutes

Ubud (Central)

~25 km

60–90 minutes

  • From the Airport: The quickest way is via the Bali Mandara Toll Road. It cuts through the water and bypasses the heavy city traffic of Denpasar. Once off the toll, merge onto Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai and look for the turn-off toward Jalan Pantai Sindhu.

  • From Kuta/Seminyak: Take Jalan Sunset Road toward the Dewa Ruci roundabout (the one with the big statue), then head onto the Bypass.

  • From Ubud: You’ll head south through the outskirts of Denpasar, eventually hitting the northern end of the Sanur bypass.

Entrance Fee to Sindhu Beach

One of the best things about Sindhu Beach is that it remains very affordable for everyone.

There is no entrance fee to access the beach itself. You can walk onto the sand and enjoy the ocean breeze for free.

However, if you are arriving by vehicle, there are small parking fees used for local village maintenance:

  • Scooters/Motorcycles: IDR 2,000

  • Cars: IDR 5,000

Other Potential Costs:

  • Sunbed & Umbrella: If you want to lounge comfortably, expect to pay between IDR 100,000 to 150,000 for a set of two beds and an umbrella for the day.

  • Food: Local warungs serve delicious Nasi Goreng or Mie Goreng for around IDR 30,000 – 50,000.

  • Activities: Renting a stand-up paddleboard or a canoe usually starts around IDR 50,000 per hour.

What to See and Do in Sindhu Beach

Sindhu Beach isn't just a place to sunbathe; it’s a hub of activity and culture. Here is how you can spend a perfect day there:

1. Witness the Breathtaking Sunrise

Sanur is nicknamed "Morning of the World" for a reason. Because Sindhu Beach faces east, it offers one of the most spectacular sunrises in Bali.

On a clear day, you can see the massive silhouette of Mount Agung in the distance as the sky turns shades of purple, orange, and gold. It is worth waking up at 5:30 AM!

2. Visit the Sindu Dwarawati Turtle Conservation

This is a highlight for many visitors. Located right near the beach, the Sindu Dwarawati Turtle

The conservation center is dedicated to protecting sea turtle eggs from predators and human interference. You can see hatchlings in various stages of growth.

If you are lucky and the timing is right, you might even be able to participate in a turtle release program, helping these tiny creatures make their way to the ocean.

3. Stroll or Cycle the Coastal Path

There is a beautifully paved 5-kilometer path that stretches along the entire Sanur coastline.

Since the path is flat and scenic, it’s perfect for a morning jog or a slow bicycle ride. You’ll pass by luxury resorts, local markets, and quiet gardens.

4. Admire the Traditional Jukung

The shoreline of Sindhu Beach is dotted with jukung

These are traditional Balinese outrigger canoes painted in vibrant colors with eyes on the bow (to help the boat "see" its way through the water).

They make for incredible photographs, especially during the "golden hour" just after sunrise.

5. Calm Water Activities

Unlike the big waves of Kuta or Uluwatu, the water at Sindhu Beach is protected by a reef, making it incredibly calm. This makes it a paradise for:

  • Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP): Even beginners can balance easily here.

  • Canoeing: Great for couples or families with children.

  • Snorkeling: While not as vibrant as Tulamben, you can still spot small fish and seagrass life near the reef breaks.

6. Relax with a Beachside Massage

There’s nothing quite like the sound of the waves while receiving a traditional Balinese massage.

Local masseuses operate along the beach, offering affordable treatments that will leave you feeling completely rejuvenated.
