The digital speedometer NMAX is equipped with various indicators, and the oil indicator is primarily a maintenance reminder.
Here are the most frequent reasons you might see it flashing:
This is by far the most common reason.
Yamaha NMAX is programmed by the factory to remind you of routine maintenance.
The oil change light blinking typically activates automatically when your mileage reaches the first 1,000 km (for the initial service) and then every subsequent 4,000 km interval.
It’s a built-in feature designed to ensure you adhere to the recommended oil change interval and maintain your bike's health.
For example: You'll see it at 1,000 km, 5,000 km, 9,000 km, and so on. This is part of the essential Yamaha NMAX maintenance schedule.
It's a very common oversight.
Sometimes, after a mechanic performs an oil change, they might forget to reset the indicator.
This means even if your oil is brand new and perfectly adequate, the light will continue to blink because the bike's system hasn't registered the service.
This is a classic case of the Yamaha NMAX oil change light blinking even when everything is fine.
While less common, continuous blinking might, in rare instances, point to a technical issue. This could be:
Understanding these reasons can help you quickly assess the situation when you see the NMAX dashboard lights meaning an oil service is due.

Now that you know why your NMAX oil indicator is blinking, let's get to the practical part: how to reset the NMAX oil indicator.
This is usually a straightforward process based on official guidelines and common owner experience.
Here are the step-by-step instructions to perform the resetting service light scooter:
Insert your key and turn the ignition to the "ON" position. You don't need to start the engine.
Locate the SELECT button on the left side of your NMAX's dashboard panel.
Press the SELECT button repeatedly until you see "OIL" or "OIL TRIP" displayed on the screen, usually accompanied by a blinking kilometer reading.
This specific display confirms you are in the correct menu for the oil reminder.
Once "OIL TRIP" is displayed, press and hold the RESET button (located on the right side of the dashboard panel) for 3 to 5 seconds.
The blinking kilometer number should start flashing more rapidly.
Release the RESET button, and then immediately press and hold it again for another 3 to 5 seconds.
Continue holding until the kilometer reading for the oil trip resets back to "0" and the blinking stops.
Turn off your NMAX's ignition. Then, turn it back on.
Check your dashboard again to ensure the oil indicator is no longer blinking. If it's off, you've successfully reset it!
